To celebrate the grand opening of Sta.R, we are hosting an upcycling workshop where local community members and residents will come together to create furniture for the space using reclaimed materials.
This summer, a new hub called “Sta.R (Station-R)” has opened directly connected to Hoshikawa Station, built around the concept of “Creativity × Circularity × Culture.” To mark the occasion, we are holding a workshop where participants can join us in handcrafting the furniture that will actually be used in the facility.
The materials used will be reclaimed items and deadstock collected from across the City of Yokohama. Materials that were destined to be discarded will be reborn as part of the Sta.R space. This is a rare opportunity to experience a slice of a circular society through hands-on making, while helping to shape Sta.R together.

・Who Can Join: Primarily elementary school age and above; adults and seniors are also very welcome; younger children must be accompanied by a guardian

Workshop Details
This is an upcycling workshop in which participants will use reclaimed materials — including gymnasium flooring collected from within the City of Yokohama — to create stools and other furniture that will actually be used at Sta.R.
With support from instructors, participants will cut and assemble wood, experiencing firsthand the process by which discarded materials gain new value. The finished pieces are planned to be put to use within the Sta.R space.

What to Bring & What to Wear
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes rather than sandals.
Work gloves, tools, and protective gear will be provided by the organizers.
Additional Notes
The workshop involves assembling wooden pieces. Staff will be on hand to assist, so first-time woodworkers are very welcome to join with confidence.
What is Sta.R (Station-R)?
Sta.R (Station-R) is a creative hub of the City of Yokohama located inside Hoshikawa Station on the Sotetsu Main Line, built around the concept of Creativity × Circularity × Culture. The space features permanent installations including a “Material Library” where visitors can explore locally sourced materials, a “Я gallery (R Gallery)” for viewing and presenting artworks themed around circularity, and “Re:Store,” a shop selling locally made circular goods. Sta.R also hosts a range of events and workshops focused on circularity, art, and design. It is operated by Creative Circular City Collective (Article Inc. / Route Design LLC) in partnership with the City of Yokohama and Sagami Railway Co., Ltd.
