[Monthly Update: August, 2022] We Not Only Care about the Local Economy But Also about the Global Economy
- On 2022/9/6
Hello, Autumn! We have four months left in 2022. How fast time flies.
Here are the new collaborations we entered in August!
The latest episode of Zen Waves × Circular Yokohama collaboration
Zenbird, an online magazine with a unique editorial focus on sustainable innovation and ethical lifestyle, has the podcast channel “Zen Waves, Good Vibrations from Japan.” Zen Waves covers news, events, and interviews with social good organizations and social businesses in Japan.
Circular Yokohama and Zenbird have opened the short video series “Circular Economy in Yokohama” to reveal how Yokohama deals with social issues and the local economy based on the circular economy concept.
Its second episode is now on air! Roger and Rina had a debate about the sustainable fashion industry. Please check it out with the link down below.
The Intersection between African Circular Economy and Japan’s Circular Economy
The circular economy could be one of the solutions to various social issues worldwide. In order to create a sustainable world, we all need to get aligned.
It is our pleasure to have connected with African Circular Business Alliance(ACBA) recently.
It is a fact-based organization that uses intensive research to galvanize the African business community in multiple sectors to provide technical assistance, circular business growth strategies, decarbonization pathways, and access to funding for eco-friendly African businesses.
ACBA and Circular Yokohama have taken up the new collaboration. We are excited to see what this combination will bring us! Please look out for future updates from us.
Circular Yokohama has its eyes not only on local issues but also on global issues
WE21 JAPAN is a non-profit organization with a mission to end the globally recurring problems of fighting over natural resources, environmental destruction, and poverty.
In order to focus on the environment and human rights and increase local awareness, WE21 JAPAN consists of 37 branches, including 36 local WE21 that operate WE Shops, second-hand shops which circulate things within a local community. Moreover, it supports some regional areas, mainly in developing countries, and provides opportunities for feelings, knowledge, technology, and information to be shared with and to learn from each other.
We visited WE21 JAPAN’s headquarters and one of the WE21 shops in Hodogaya Ward in Yokohama.
Circular Yokohama learned how they show solidarity domestically and internationally from their many different activities.
We will keep discussing with WE21 JAPAN and promoting sustainability and the circular economy here in Yokohama!
